fantastic finds

I came across this really interesting article written by Ylonda Gault Caviness of Redbook Magazine. 8 Things No One Tells You About Marriage. It’s a pretty lengthy article, but a good one. Here are the 8 topics.

1. You will look at the person lying next to you and wonder, Is this it? Forever?

2. You’ll work harder than you ever imagined.

3. You will sometimes go to bed mad (and maybe even wake up madder).

4. You will go without sex — sometimes for a long time — and that’s okay.

5. Getting your way is usually not as important as finding a way to work together.

6. A great marriage doesn’t mean no conflict; it simply means a couple keeps trying to get it right.

7. You’ll realize that you can only change yourself.

8. As you face your fears and insecurities, you will find out what you’re really made of.

We went over a few of these topics at pre-cana and they really do make sense. I thought pre-cana was going to be a long boring two days, but they weren’t. We actually really related to our team counselor couple and really came away some good advice.

In my opinion this is a good read not just for engaged couples, but for couples already married too.

Happy reading! :)

I wonder around Flickr every now and then, but I never knew about Flickr tools! Awesome! There are so many things you can do with your pictures on there. When you get a chance, take a look around the site. I’ve just uploaded all my wedding idea pictures. Time to make a mosaic. ;)

My suggested I go to TJ Maxx to find some apocathary jars and boy was she right on. I found such a cute one for $6. They had such a great selection. Some were $10, some were $15. I wanted to buy them all, but I am going to limit myself to 1 a month. I have 4 jars so far and I just need a total of 12 and I have 8 months to get the rest. I’ll post a pic of the one I picked up yesterday in a little bit. I’m at work right now. I’ll also post a pic of the jars/vases I’ve acquired so far for the buffet. I’ve decided that I’m going to wrap a ribbon around the center of each one to add a personal touch.

I was leafing through the latest issue of Modern Bride and found a few things that I thought I would share.

2oz Spring Wedges from Too Good Gourmet

These are so so cute. Not sure about having different colors on the tables. I’m not really feeling that, but some other people might. The price is right too. $3.25 each. Not too bad. They come in three different flavors, Mom’s Apple Pie Cookies, Blueberry Cheesecake Cookies and Chocolate Cherry Cookies. Yum!

Monogrammed Cookies / Box of 15

Ok, these I might actually have to do as favors. I absolutely LOVE Oreos, I mean seriously…who doesn’t right? These are from BlissWeddingsMarket.com and they are priced at $36.99 for a box of 15. That’s less than $2.50 each. Putting one of these in a cute box at each place setting just might be the favor I was looking for. It has the monogram, which is the theme I’m doing and it is black and white, just like the black and white cookies I was going to do. I’m torn. The black and white cookies from Crumbs are too die for, but these are just too cute.

And there’s more! LOL

Seriously, how do you choose? There are so many options, how do you narrow it down to one thing? Maybe I have to stop reading wedding magazines. All these options is driving me bonkers.

These are also from Modern Bride.

How cute is this! Emily Taylor is a self taught artist. She will take a picture of your wedding cake and make a 4 x 6 replica of it…but they start at $500. Ouch.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any stores in my area to see her actual work.

I still love the idea though.

Miniature replica of cake

I love it I love it! Isn’t it just gorgeous! It’s a Swarovski flower hair comb from GlamGal Designs Bridal.

I would love to wear something like this on my wedding day.

Here’s a bridal emergency kit from Mindy Weiss that is sure to come in handy the day of your wedding. I mean, what if you have a killer headache or you just wanna freshen up a bit. What would you do if you didn’t have a little kit? You’d walk around funky, that’s what you’d do. So help everyone AND help yourself and get a kit will ya! :)

I read Daily Candy every day and saw this today. This would be a great little palette to have with you on your wedding day or any day for that matter. It’s $18 from Mark.

From the website: “All the color you need for eyes, cheeks and lips in one portable compact filled with exquisite shades inspired by the spring runways. One side holds two eyeshadows and a blush. Flip it around and you have two lip colors and two lip glosses.”

Is this addicting or what? Play Vera Wang’s Dress Up Game!

Heehee!
